Emergency services were called to an address on Whipley Bank near to Ripley after a man was discovered with fatal stab injuries in a car. (9.30pm on Sunday 3 August 2014).
A police investigation was immediately launched and a suspect was arrested after handing himself in to Greater Manchester Police at 2.40am on Monday (4 August 2014).
A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of the 44-year-old man.
Police have reassured local residents that it was an isolated incident and there was no danger posed to the wider public.
While enquiries remain ongoing at the address on Whipley Bank, the B6165 (Ripley to Pateley Bridge road) remains closed to traffic. Motorists are urged to follow local diversions until further notice from the police.
