Mark Cavendish bike to be auctioned at Tennants Auctioneers

29 July 2014

The Tour de France may be over for another year but there is still chance to capture the memories of the Tour’s fabulous excursion to Yorkshire.

On Friday 1 August 2014, Tennants Auctioneers of Leyburn are to offer a 2010 Scott Addict that was used by Mark Cavendish during the 2010 season. The vendor was a Sport Marketing Manager for Nike (1998-2012) and during this time he signed Mark Cavendish to an endorsement contract and worked regularly with him and with the brand. The bike was given to the vendor by the Marketing Manager of the HTC team when they changed bike sponsors in 2011. He was informed it was used during the 2010 Tour de France.

The bike, which would have retailed at around £10,000 in 2010, is equipped with Shimano’s range topping Dura Ace groupset, carbon HED wheels and a carbon fibre frame and fork. The whole bike weighs 7KG.

Estimated at £1,500-2,500 it is sure to be popular, but will not bring retribution to Cavendish’s fans following his dramatic crash at the end of Stage 1 in Harrogate, forcing the Manx Missile to prematurely withdraw from the race.
