Hot on the heels of the sports awards evening, year 6 induction day and general end of year celebrations was Harrogate High’s summer concert.
There was a great atmosphere as parents and students alike enjoyed a fantastic evening of music making celebrating the musical talents of many of the students.
Vocal performances included the Stewart sisters, Chloe Campbell and Abbie Parcell. Instrumentals ranged from a Vivaldi violin duet by Chloe Kelly and Caitlin Nix, to Helena Popplewell on oboe to the band Purple Hazard.
The GCSE performing arts group performed the ever popular Seasons of Love from the musical Rent, whilst the Ukulele group played a couple of popular tunes.
The evening also included an awards ceremony which was a great opportunity to acknowledge and thank the students for all their hard work and commitment to the department over the last year. The awards were presented by head teacher Mr. Andrew Bayston. Musician of the year went to Liam Gambles.
The Starbeck Community Primary School orchestra came to perform their own pieces and then were joined by the school junior band to pay the iconic Star Wars. The concert was brought to a rousing close by the Jazz Band who have had an exceptional year performing in many concerts with an exciting trip to Disneyland Paris and also at the International Youth Music Festival.
Helen Mills, head of music said: It was s fantastic evening showcasing the wealth of talent our students have at Harrogate High.
