A newly elected MEP will be the guest speaker at a public meeting in Harrogate next Monday. (23 June 2014)
Amjad Bashir, one of three new UKIP MEPs elected to represent Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire in Brussels, will be speaking at the party’s Harrogate & Knaresborough meeting, being held at 7.15pm at the Old Swan Hotel.
Pakistani-born Mr Bashir, who is the UKIP spokesman for small businesses, will talk about his first weeks in Brussels, and the party’s aims for the next 12 months and beyond.
Harrogate and Knaresborough UKIP Chairman, John Hanson, said: Last month’s European Union elections were a triumph for UKIP, which saw us taking three of the six seats being contested here in our region.
We’re delighted to be welcoming Amjad Bashir to our meeting, and we look forward to hearing about his views on Europe, and how he hopes to use his influence to help small businesses in the region.
The meeting, the first since the highly successful European campaign, will also hear from its prospective Parliamentary candidate, Bilton and Nidd Gorge County Councillor, David Simister, and Alan Henderson, who is standing for UKIP in the forthcoming Hookstone by-election.
The meeting, which starts at 7.15pm, is open to all members of the public.
