Local MP Andrew Jones opened Starbeck’s updated Post Office this week joined by a crowd of local school children and the Postmistress celebrating this major improvement to the facility.
The new facility – a Post Office Local – marks an ongoing rejuvenation of the Post Office network in Mr Jones’s Harrogate and Knaresborough constituency following hot on the heels of upgrades to the Cold Bath Road Post Office and the Post Office at Oatlands Mount.
Mr Jones was shown around the new facility by Postmistress Gemma Chowdhury.
Commenting after the opening, Mr Jones said: The works at Starbeck Post Office are a great step forward for Starbeck and a continuing improvement of our post office facilities across our area.
Just a few years ago we were losing post offices in Harrogate and In Knaresborough. Now we are seeing post offices being improved – like here in Starbeck – and new facilities opening – like at Chain Lane in Knaresborough.
This Post Office is at the heart of the Starbeck community and I am sure there will be a warm welcome and good use of this much improved facility. I am so pleased that Gemma and family will be running the Post Office, as I know they will make it a great success.
