Body of a man recovered from the River Ouse in York

North Yorkshire Police have tonight recovered the body of a man from the River Ouse in York.

The body was found in the stretch of river which runs along the back of St Peter’s School playing fields in Clifton.

The body was recovered from the river by the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Underwater Search Team at around 8pm on the evening of Sunday 18 May 2014, following a call from a member of the public just after 4pm.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, therefore we are not in a position to release the identity of the deceased.

The family of missing York man Mandeep Ahluwalia, have been informed of the discovery.
