People from across Yorkshire are being invited to raise a glass and nominate their favourite pub to find Yorkshire’s favourite for 2014.
Voting for Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2014 is now open and organiser Welcome to Yorkshire is encouraging people across the county to tell them which their favourite pub is and why.
It could be that you hail their ale or delight in the culinary dishes – whatever it is, have your say.
Last year, the competition attracted over 10,000 votes in total for around 700 different pubs – proving there is a huge passion for pubs in the UK’s biggest county.
The public can vote now at www.yorkshire.com/pub and say in 20 words why their nomination is worthy of the title until 18 May 2014.
The top 30 pubs – as voted for by the public – will feature in the new Welcome to Yorkshire Ale Trail, supported by Black Sheep Brewery.
The Carpenters Arms at Felixkirk was crowned the 2013 winner and Deborah Whitwell said: We were thrilled when our name was read out as the winning pub in 2013 and it’s such a great feeling to be recognised for our hard work. It’s a fantastic competition and we’d encourage pubs and patrons to get involved and make the most of it.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: I think it’s safe to say that Yorkshire has some of the finest, most diverse pubs across North, South, East and West Yorkshire. They have a passion for what they do – and do best – which is why we’re delighted to be running this popular competition again. We hope people will get involved and nominate their favourite.
Jo Theakston, Sales and Marketing Director of Black Sheep Brewery, added: Yorkshire’s pubs play a pivotal role in Yorkshire tourism and we believe we have the finest pubs in the country. They offer quality service, food and drinks day in, day out and also create jobs and opportunities in doing so. It’s great to be involved in this competition and Ale Trail and hope even more visitors might find out for themselves just how great these places are.
The 10 pubs with the most votes from the final 30 will then go head-to-head in a straight public vote from 22 May 2014 to find a winner.
That winning pub, plus runners up, will be announced at the Great Yorkshire Show – and handed the trophy of Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2014.
