Smiles all round: Megan sweeps the board at national Aesthetic Dentist awards.

A Yorkshire orthodontist was crowned the UK’s best last week, after sweeping the board at the national Aesthetic Dentistry Awards.

Dr Megan Hatfield, of Wetherby Orthodontics, won a hat-trick of awards for her work with fixed, removable and clear “Invisalign” braces, on her way to the coveted overall title “Aesthetic Dentist of the Year”.

Megan, who trained in Leeds, is well known to patients in both West and North Yorkshire; alongside her own thriving practice in Wetherby, she works regularly in York and recently joined the team at Harrogate’s prestigious Raglan Suite.

Megan commented: I’ve always said you don’t need to go to London to get really top class care for your teeth. It feels great to bring so many awards back home to Yorkshire, and to shine the spotlight on the great dental community we have here.

My job’s already pretty rewarding, seeing patients grow in confidence as their smiles improve, so being recognised by my peers is really the icing on the cake.

The award-winning case studies all featured ‘before and after’ photos of patients from the Wetherby area, ranging from a teenage schoolboy to a prison officer in her late forties.

Megan said: I really want to thank the patients who let me submit their cases. After all, the whole point with Invisalign and lingual braces is they’re invisible, so nobody knows you’re having them done!

The chairman of the Awards judging panel, Dr Christopher Orr, added: Megan has demonstrated an outstanding level of skill, by collecting awards in multiple categories. Choosing her as overall winner was an easy decision – she’s a very worthy Aesthetic Dentist of the Year.
