Chevin Cycles is opening two new retail outlets as part of its continuing business growth and development, just in time for this summer’s Le Tour Yorkshire.
The Otley-based business was started 40 years ago and caters for all types of cyclists with road, mountain, hybrid and junior bikes all available as well as dedicated women’s ranges. They also sell cycling accessories including clothing, helmets and luggage, and run a service centre with qualified mechanics.
Managing director Rick Peacock set up the business 40 years ago.
Rick said: We are passionate about cycling and offer a range of services to meet the diverse needs of all our customers. We know what our customers want from a cycle store and we do all in our power to provide it.
Chevin Cycles currently employs 20 people.
The new shops will be open before Le Tour Yorkshire and the race will go past both shops’ front doors.
Rick said: The additional shops will sell merchandise similar to our existing premises. It’s an exciting time for the business with Le Tour Yorkshire not far away, and having a close working relationship with Mark and NatWest has really helped. He has given us excellent advice and been very helpful.
Company director Sanjai Bhatia joined the business eight years ago, starting as an assistant on the shop floor.
Sanjai added: It’s going to be a busy summer at Chevin Cycles with the new shops opening and the Le Tour Yorkshire but we have fantastic team and we are all looking forward to what’s ahead.
The expansion has been with the support of NatWest.
Natwest Relationship Manager, Mark Forsyth said: It’s always a great pleasure working with a successful business like Chevin Cycles. These are exciting times for the team at Chevin Cycles with the new stores and Le Tour Yorkshire, and I wish them every success for the future.
