Police have said they have concluded investigations into what was a reported as a suspicious incident with a child being approached.
Police investigated a report of a York schoolboy being approached and spoken to by a man driving a green car in Nether Poppleton on 24 January 2014 and have carried out extensive enquiries into the incident.
Officers are now satisfied that the incident was not as first reported and that there was no risk or danger posed to any children or adults.
Police reaffirmed that they take all reports of this nature very seriously and will carry out a full investigation if such an incident is reported to them.
Police advice to young people remains the same – never go with a stranger, never take things from a stranger, never get in a car with a stranger and always tell you parents or carer where you are, who you are with and what time you will be home.
If a stranger tries to touch you, tell them no, get home or to a safe place as quickly as you can and tell your parents, carer or someone you trust straight away.
