Police investigating an incident in Nether Poppleton, York, in which a 10-year-old schoolboy was approached by a man driving a green car have made an appeal to pedestrians and cyclists in the area at the time.
The boy was approached as he cycled home on Millfield Lane between 3.15pm and 3.30pm on Friday 24 January 2014. The man, who officers believe was driving a dark green Vauxhall car, spoke to the boy and asked for directions before getting hold of the boy’s arm. The boy was not physically harmed but was very upset by the incident.
The boy was cycling along the path next to the main road and was near to the bus stop on Millfield Lane when the incident happened.
It is known that there were a number of pedestrians and cyclists who went past the boy and the car as he was talking to the man. Officers are appealing for these people to come forward.
Anyone who was using the cycle path and footpath on Millfield Lane between 3.15pm and 3.30pm on Friday 24 January, is urged to contact the police. In particular, anyone who recalls seeing a dark green car or a schoolboy speaking to a man in a dark green car.
