Shop robbery in York – appeal for witnesses and information

Detectives in York are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in the Clifton area of the city.

The incident occurred at McColl’s convenience store on Crichton Avenue at about 9.25pm on Saturday 18 January 2014.

Two men entered the shop and threatened two members of staff with knives before making off with cash from the till.

The shop workers were not harmed but were left very shocked by the ordeal. There were no customers in the shop at the time of the incident.

Extensive police enquiries remain ongoing to locate the suspects, including forensic examinations at the scene and analysis CCTV in the area.

Both men were wearing hooded tops and scarves over their faces to hide their identity.
