Earlier this month, a group of Year 8, 9, 10 and Lower Sixth students from Gateways School in Harewood took part in the Winter WonderLeeds Spectacular event on Briggate in Leeds.
The aim of the event was to promote local independent businesses and there were stalls selling fine food, crafts and accessories. The group of Gateways students, who were part of a community enterprise initiative, had a stall where they were selling Christmas gifts in order to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, the charity the school is supporting throughout this academic year.
The day was hosted by the Lord Mayor of Leeds and the Gateways School choir appeared as part of a number of entertainments throughout the course of the day.
Winter WonderLeeds will continue to provide seasonal cheer on Briggate throughout the Christmas period with a programme of performances and festive activities.
Dr Tracy Johnson, Gateways School Headmistress, said:
It was a wonderful event which put everyone who took part into a festive mood. It was a useful experience for our Enterprise students to interact and engage with the public and the Gateways Choir gave an excellent performance which was much appreciated by the Christmas shoppers.
