Greeted by the Mayor of Harrogate, Councillor Michael Newby, Santa Claus arrived at Asda in Harrogate on Tuesday 10 December 2013.
He will be there between 10.00 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day until Monday 23 December 2013 when he has to leave for the North Pole to make final preparations for this year’s round the world dash.
Children from Grove Road School and representatives of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Wellspring Therapy joined the Mayor in giving Santa a very warm Yorkshire welcome.
Santa seemed very pleased to be back and said:
It is wonderful to be in Harrogate again where the people are so generous and the children so good. It is an especial pleasure for me to be back here in Asda where I am always made to feel so welcome.
I hope that as many children as possible will come and visit me in my wonderful grotto on the first floor of the store.
This year I’m helping Harrogate Brigantes’ Rotary Club to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Wellspring Therapy’s “Freedom4Youth – Empower” project and other Rotary projects. Do come and see me. A very Merry Christmas to you all.”
