Hard on the heels of expanding its board, Harrogate-based engineering and management consultancy Tate Consulting has appointed Katie McGuire as an Associate Partner to drive its energy and sustainability solutions.
Katie joins Tate Consulting from Leeds-based CO2Sense where she was joint head of sustainability operations, responsible for strategy and business development and leading a team to deliver low carbon solutions to businesses. Katie has a strong background in the sustainability of the built environment, having previously been with The Building Research Establishment (BRE) where she worked on BREEAM scheme development and construction product life cycle analysis.
Katie brings expertise in sustainability strategy, low carbon solutions, energy management and resource efficiency to her new role. She recently worked with organisations such as logistics firm Hermes and the NHS and has designed and assessed the sustainability of many high profile refurbishment and new build projects in London. She is a qualified CIBSE low carbon consultant and BREEAM Assessor.
Tate Consulting aims to make new and existing buildings as simple and as energy efficient as possible and embeds sustainability into all of its projects. For more than a decade it has advised Asda on how to reduce energy consumption targets and carbon emission reductions by 20% by 2015, as well as delivering core consulting engineering services. Recently it has worked on a trio of flagship distribution buildings for the company – some of the most environmentally sustainable developments of their kind in the UK.
At Tate Consulting, Katie will lead on driving energy and sustainability solutions including low carbon building design, BREEAM, energy management and monitoring, carbon reduction planning, renewable energy feasibility, environmental management systems and energy auditing.
Shane Tate of Tate Consulting said:
We are delighted to welcome Katie at this time of expansion. She is an experienced sustainability expert with a successful track record and brings with her a wealth of knowledge of working with energy and sustainability programmes for major companies.
