A new Harrogate business servicing prestige and 4×4 cars has created new jobs, including two for young apprentices.
GT Service at Pannal Business Park has been opened by Tom and Gemma Askey who already run a successful car sales business, TG Brokers.
The couple saw the launch of a servicing business as a natural progression, particularly thanks to Tom’s extensive experience in the automotive industry, and have invested heavily in main dealer level diagnostic services and web-based booking and service record facilities.
Chris Rhodes, who has extensive knowledge of all the major 4×4 and prestige models, has been appointed Master Technician and two apprentices, Jack Dunn and Jack Nixon, have joined the firm through Harrogate College’s apprenticeships scheme. Both are training within the business while continuing their college studies through day release.

Gemma and I are both from Harrogate and, while we have both worked away in the past, we are pleased to have returned to our roots. Putting something back into the community by employing local people is important to us and I am delighted that we have been able to take on the apprentices. Our aim is to train them to the highest standards and, as the business grows, to look at taking on new apprentices.
Jack Dunn, 16, from Harrogate, is a keen dirt track car racer and has tuned and maintained his own cars for some time, while Jack Nixon, 20, grew up on a farm near Ripon and has maintained 4x4s. He also has a keen interest in 1970s sports cars.

We established TG Brokers to sell prestige cars in 2005 and were ready for an additional challenge. Setting up GT Service means we can not only look after our existing clients but also offer main dealer level servicing for some of the more unusual models.
