A Harrogate Osteopath has “plotted” her role in next weekend’s popular Guy Fawkes 10 mile road race.
Keen runner Sarah Gordon, whose business Harrogate Osteopaths is based on Station Road, Pannal, will play a leading role in the race as she has not only agreed to become a sponsor, she is also helping to marshal the event.
Organised by the Nidd Valley Road Runners, the race is now in its 29th year and both starts and ends in the village of Ripley.
Runners participating in the Guy Fawkes 10 – which takes place this Sunday (November 3) – are led around a gruelling ten-mile circuit by a cyclist dressed as the infamous member of the 1605 Gun Powder Plot.
Sarah, who completed her first marathon this year, said:
The Guy Fawkes 10 is an extremely popular race and attracts runners from all over the UK.
As a member of the Nidd Valley Road Runners I was keen to play a very active part and ‘plotted’ how this could be achieved. As a result I have agreed to become a sponsor and, on Sunday, will act as a marshal.
A number of my patients are competing and have agreed to wear Harrogate Osteopaths running tops, which will be lovely to see.
A couple of them are pretty nervous as they have never run this far before.
Steve Newton, race director, said:
Sarah is a very committed member of the club and we are delighted that she has come on board as a sponsor.
Thanks to the sponsors and race fees we are able to give out various prizes, awards, goody bags and commemorative running T-shirts.
The Guy Fawkes 10 is one of the highlights of our running calendar and this year we have 1,000 runners of all ages taking part.
The Nidd Valley Road Runners meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Harrogate Hockey Club.
Its winter training program starts on November 12 and further details are available from its website at www.niddvalleyroadrunners.co.uk
