There are more signs of economic recovery and an increase in consumer spending with figures released today by Yorkshire family car retailer JCT600. The company delivered a record 2,500 new retail cars in September, up 66% from the same time last year.
September is traditionally one of the busiest months of the year for new car registrations as buyers look to secure the new plate formats that are released twice each year, but the group has seen a sustained increase in demand over recent months with sales steadily rising throughout the summer.
With strong sales across its 47 dealerships, the group delivered more new cars in September than in any month, all sporting the latest 63 registration plate.
John Tordoff , chief executive of JCT600 (pictured) said:
After a tough few years in the car industry, it’s great to see the market improving in the UK although it remains weak across most of Europe.
Whilst our record month is partly due to the recent expansion of the group with the addition of some Gilder Group dealerships earlier in the year, it also results from a 24% rise in new car sales across our existing dealerships.
According to recent figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, new car sales across the UK rose in August for the 18th month in a row, up 10.9% on the same month last year. We have seen this upturn in consumer confidence reflected in our dealerships over the last three months with increased footfall and a marked rise in new car sales.
There are some attractive offers available on new cars and buyers are still keen to find a bargain. As a Yorkshire-based business, we’re committed to providing excellent value as well as outstanding customer service, and that reputation is continuing to win us more than our fair share of business in the region and further afield.
JCT600, which has its head office in Bradford, is a family business which operates 47 dealerships throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and the North East, selling 21 of the world’s most respected brands.
