Residents living in the county’s most remote locations will benefit from a new initiative launched by Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
MapMe allows householders to share key information about the location of their hard-to-reach property so it can be found as quickly as possible in the event of a medical emergency.
As an emergency service, we use up-to-date navigation technology and, in the vast majority of cases, locate our patients very quickly.
However, with some remote properties, it may be that they are known by a name rather than a street number, share a postcode with other properties in the area, or are at the end of a small country lane known only to locals.
David Williams, Deputy Director of Operations
David Williams, Deputy Director of Operations said:
Every second counts in a medical emergency when someone is seriously ill or injured and our staff do everything they can to reach patients as quickly as possible.
If you think your property is difficult to find, we would urge you to complete a simple online form detailing specific directions and access information for your property.
This information will then be used within the mapping system in our Emergency Operations Centres, where 999 calls are received, so you can be reassured that we will be able to find you when you need us most.
To register with MapMe, visit the Yorkshire Ambulance Service website at www.yas.nhs.uk, and MapMe can be found in the ‘Calling 999’ section. Alternatively follow the link: www.yas.nhs.uk/Calling999/MapMe.html
