Mercer Art Gallery will be flash mobbed! If you come down to the Mercer Art Gallery on Friday 30 August you may be in for a big surprise!
As part of the current exhibition at the Mercer Art Gallery, The People’s Choice, the Senior Tap and Jazz Class from the Knaresborough Studio 3 Dance Workshop have been working on creating a dance based on their choice from the paintings of Harrogate’s fine art collection.
Friday 30 August 2013 2pm to 4pm
The People’s Choice, features artworks from the Harrogate district’s fine art collection all selected by local people. Everybody has a story to tell to explain their choice, often quite personal, details of which will be displayed alongside each picture in the exhibition. Here their story is told through a specially choreographed dance.
If you are visiting the Mercer Art Gallery anytime between 2pm and 4pm on Friday 30 August you will be lucky enough to catch the Senior Tap and Jazz Class performing a dance in response to the Malcolm Scott painting Trying to Sketch Crows in the Woods. They will perform the same piece several times over the course of the afternoon coming out of nowhere to surprise the Mercer Art Gallery’s visitors and disappearing just as quickly.
The People’s Choice exhibition runs from 13 July 2013 to 15 September 2013 at The Mercer Art Gallery, Swan Road, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, entry is free.
