North Yorkshire Police were called at around 3.45pm on Thursday 1 August 2013, following a road traffic collision on the A1 at Allerton Park.
The collision involving a lorry and a Nissan Quashqai occurred on the southbound carriageway just before Junction 47.
The impact of the collision forced the Nissan off the road and into a field.
The occupants of the Nissan have been taken to hospital but they are not believed to be seriously injured.
The southbound carriageway is blocked apart from one lane, which is causing traffic disruption in the area.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes for the time being to help ease congestion on the carriageway.
Both vehicles involved in the collision are currently being recovered by breakdown services.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.
