Witness appeal as motorcyclist is killed in Craven District

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about a fatal road traffic collision on the A65 Clapham bypass.

The incident, which occurred at the junction with Station Road at about 2.20pm on Saturday 27 July 2013, involved a multi-coloured Ducati motorcycle and a silver Ford Focus car.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his late 30s from the Fife area of Scotland, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The police have said they are not in a position to formally identify him at this time.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his early 80s and from Burnley, Lancashire, was checked over by the ambulance crew but was uninjured.

Local diversions remain in place while police collision investigators examine the scene and to allow the vehicles to be recovered.

Witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing either vehicle prior to the incident, are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Pete Stringer.
