Community transport in Nidderdale will come under the spotlight at a public meeting this Thursday. (4 July 2013)
The event, being held at 7pm at Pateley Bridge Council Chambers, King Street, has been organised by Nidderdale Plus in conjunction with the Dales Integrated Transport Alliance (DITA).
Nidderdale Plus is a non–profit organisation, set up to champion the rural area to the west of Harrogate – including Nidderdale, the Washburn Valley and Mashamshire.
Its aim is to keep services local, to support businesses and community organisations and to work in partnership to make a difference.
The public meeting is being chaired by Nidderdale Plus Partnership Manager Katy Penn, who said:
We hope as many people as possible attend the meeting as public transport, or the lack of it, is a real issue in Nidderdale.
This meeting is being held to find out what residents want in terms of a community transport provision. If we can prove a need then there is a good chance North Yorkshire County Council will provide us with a mini-bus.
If that is the case and I hope it is, then we will need volunteers to help with driving duties and administration tasks.
