Detectives in York are appealing for two vital witnesses to come forward following an attempted robbery in the city.
It occurred between 5pm and 5.15pm on Monday 17 June 2013, as a woman walked through Museum Gardens.
As the 55-year-old local woman walked through the gardens, she was approached by two men, one of whom was pushing a bike. They demanded that she gave them her handbag. When she refused they tried to grab the bag from her. However, when a couple walking a dog approached them the men ran off empty handed.
The first suspect is described a man aged in his late twenties, around 5ft 6in tall with a thin build and short dark hair. The second man is slightly taller at approximately 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall, with a stocky build and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top. Both men had dark or possibly tanned complexions.
Detective Constable Mike Avison, of York CID, said:
I am appealing to the couple who were walking their dog, believed to be a German Shepherd, in Museum Gardens at the time of the attempted robbery to come forward, as I believe they may have vital information about the incident.
I also need to speak to you, if you were in the area at the time, or can help to identify the two men responsible and ask that you get in touch.
