St John Fisher’s student Jacob Fincham-Dukes had a tremendous weekend at the Yorkshire Track and Field Championships in Barnsley winning 3 gold medals in what was an extremely competitive championships.
Jacob started the weekend winning gold in the Under 17 400m hurdles, in a time of 55.62s enough to move him up to 2nd in the Uk rankings. He followed this up with a tremendous leap of 6m83cm in the long jump to place him at No1 in the UK.
On the second day he bettered his personal best in the 100m hurdles in a time of 13.74s moving him up to 7th in the UK rankings.
Jacob’s success last year and this has been recognised on a national level with an invite from UK Athletics to take part in the under 18, 400m hurdles, World Youth Trials in Bedford and his first England vest, having been selected to represent England Schools, at 300m hurdles and long jump, in the World Track and Field Cup in the Czech Republic from 22nd-27th June 2013.
