Today Julia Mulligan, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire, has confirmed that she has accepted an offer for the former police station on North Park Road in Harrogate.
The offer accepted by the Commissioner on behalf of North Yorkshire Police was for an unconditional £1,550,000, with a further £350,000 should planning permission be granted. This is a potential total of £1,900,000.
A great deal of interest was shown in the recent public auction of the property, and work has been ongoing since then with prospective purchasers. The income North Yorkshire Police will receive is in line with expectations, and reflected in the Medium Term Financial Plan.
Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said:
Ensuring North Yorkshire Police is fit for the future is one of my key commitments, and this offer for the old police station on North Park Road is very welcome news.
We now have an empty building which can be developed into something useful for Harrogate residents, as well as capital funds which North Yorkshire Police can reinvest into its estates programme meaning improved services for the public.
