Witness appeal following serious collision in Ripon

PoliceNorth Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Ripon.

The accident occurred shortly after 8am on Friday 10 May 2013, on Water Skellgate.

The collision involved a green Nissan X-Trail and a pedestrian, who was walking her two dogs.

Just prior to the collision the X-trail had travelled down Duck Hill before turning right onto Water Skellgate.

As a result of the incident the pedestrian, a 76-year-old local woman, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with head injuries. Her condition is not currently known.

The road has been closed while police examine the scene.

Traffic Sergeant John Lumbard, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you witnessed the collision I ask that you contact the police as soon as possible.

I also need to speak to anyone who saw the green Nissan or woman just prior to the incident and ask that they get in touch.
