Sash window renovation expert Ventrolla has invested in six new machines for its Joinery Workshop based at its Head Office in Harrogate, creating two new jobs.
The investment is a result of significant uptake of orders for its new slim double glazed sashes, which launched back in 2011.
David Greaves, Managing Director of Ventrolla, said:
Over the past 18 months, 75% of our orders have required new window joinery, which involves hand crafting single and slim double glazed sashes to fit into existing window box frames. We have made this move to keep pace with our customers’ requirements.
Following the expansion, Gary Cowgill, aged 54, and Adam Clark, 24, have been recruited to man the additional machinery. Both have been joiners since leaving school at 16 and will now join the existing Ventrolla workforce in supplying new joinery to their UK wide customer base.

Gary, from Knaresborough, secured an interview with Ventrolla just three days after the firm he’d worked at for 29 years had closed for business. When he was offered a position he also advised his former colleague Adam, from Harrogate, to apply for a post too.
The machines installed in the workshop include two Spindle Moulders, which add detail to the window profiles; a Tenoner and Morticer to create tenon and mortice joints; a Planer to craft 90 degree edges, and a 4-bag extractor which collects the sawdust created by the machines.
David added:
This new joinery equipment will enable us to match the increased demand and with the new additions to our joinery team, which have proven to be very successful, we are looking forward to the continued growth of the business.
Ventrolla’s expansion involved fellow Yorkshire businesses’ Sedgwick, who made four of the six machines and JMJ, a woodworking machinery company based in Hull who installed them. Furthermore a local chicken farm will also benefit from the extra machinery as it will receive the sawdust collected from the new extractor.
