Staff from a Nidderdale shopping centre donned animal costumes over the Easter break to raise money for a national charity.
On Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday, members of the Darley Mill Centre team took it in turn to dress as rabbits and a chicken, and cajoled customers to give a donation in aid of Bliss – a charity that supports premature babies and their families – in exchange for chocolate eggs.
The shopping outlet – which is owned by The Yorkshire Linen Co managing director Ross Leventhal – was supported in its efforts by Barclays Bank, who matched the amount raised by the animal antics.
Mr Leventhal said:
Bliss is our chosen charity for the year and this Easter event was the launch of 12 months of activities both here at the Darley Mill Centre and in our Yorkshire Linen Co stores.
We are extremely grateful to our customers and Barclays Bank for helping us get off to such a flying start. Our aim is to raise in excess of £10,000 and this is a great launch pad.

Bliss – which was established in 1979 works to provide the best possible care and support for all premature and sick babies and their families.
Each year, one in every nine babies in the UK is born either premature or sick. One baby every minute is admitted to special care every six minutes.
