Pupils at independent prep school Belmont Grosvenor in Harrogate transformed themselves into their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day.
Youngsters at the school, swapped uniforms for fancy dress costumes to mark the annual literary event.
The co-educational school, based at Swarcliffe Hall, Birstwith, saw characters from The Wizard of Oz arrive at school, alongside the Cat in the Hat, Harry Potter and the Life of Pi.
After a parade in assembly, pupils talked about their choice of character and their favourite book.
Headteacher Jane Merriman said she was overwhelmed by the diverse costumes on show for World Book Day:
As usual, the children, and staff, surpassed themselves in their colourful and original costumes.
