There is still time for bands and live music venues to enter Rock the House 2013, UK Parliament’s biggest competition.
The MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough, Andrew Jones, has called for musicians and small venues in the area to enter Rock the House 2013 which celebrates up-and-coming British artists and the live music venues that support them.
Andrew has already encouraged nine bands to sign up, with the help of Ont’ Sofa, a recording studio in Harrogate who have donated a prize to the competition.
The competition is open to all music performers in the following categories: solo artist, band, under 19 solo artist, under 19 band, and best small live music venue.
Applications close on Friday 1 March 2013.
Once the closing date has passed, Andrew, along with a panel of local music enthusiasts, will judge the entries and nominate one from each category to compete in the competition.
Andrew said:
We have already had plenty of interest from local bands and venues and there is still time to get your application in.
I have enjoyed watching the videos submitted but we want to be sure that our area’s talent is properly represented.
Ont’ Sofa have donated a session at Gibson Guitar Studios in London as a prize for the winning artist, which co-founders Jason Odle and Ben Davis say is an experience of a lifetime.
Jason said:
Ben and I are really happy to be able to offer a prize for this great competition.
Music is so important in our day to day lives and supporting musicians of all ages and the venues where they play is only going to help build the industry for the future.
We are also thrilled that the government are interested in our industry, right down to every constituency and MP.
Our local MP, Andrew Jones, has been keen to find the best talent in our area and it should be reflected in the results this year.
Musicians and live music venues can find all forms and information on the competition at www.rockthehousehoc.com and should send in their nominations to Andrew Jones MP at andrew.jones.mp@parliament.uk by 1 March 201
