Despite the League placings the 1st half was pretty even. Chances were limited to some long range efforts from both sides but none of these shots tested either keeper.
As the 1st half was drawing to a close the home side seem to grow in confidence and a long range effort from Paddy McGuire just went narrowly over the crossbar. Moments before the HT interval Railway took a shock lead.
They worked the ball well down the left as Nathan Cartman put Liam Hardy through on goal. Liam took the ball on and slotted the ball home past a stranded keeper to give Railway a HT lead.
The 2nd half saw Rail defending well and catching Trafford on the break. Rail should have doubled their lead shortly after the restart but the unfortunate Cartman saw his header cannon off the crossbar. As the half went on Trafford were finding it difficult to find a way through a resolute Railway defence. Despite 1 or 2 scares for the home side they held on for a well earned victory.
