Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in which a Toyota Amazon 4 x 4, which was towing a trailer loaded with scaffolding, was in collision with a dark blue, German registered Ford C-Max, on the A658 (also known as Harrogate by-pass) near Kirkby Overblow yesterday (28 January 2013) at around 4pm.
The passenger in the Ford C-Max, a 25-year-old German man, died at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the C-Max, a 49-year-old Polish man, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Both men were working in the UK for a German company.
The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old man from the Menston area was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where he was detained overnight with minor injuries.
The Toyota was travelling along the A658 towards Buttersyke Bar and the Ford C-Max was travelling in the opposite direction.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and for anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash.

The road was closed for six hours while emergency services dealt with the collision.
The name the man who died has not been released, although his family have been notified and were due to travel to the UK today.
