Oscar Gray and Emma Moodie, pupils at Highfield Prep, part of Harrogate Ladies’ College, have successfully auditioned for the prestigious National Youth Choir of Great Britain (NYC).
The Choir is recognised as one of the most outstanding choirs in the world for young people in school years 5 up to age 22. Both pupils sing in many ensembles at Highfield, including Senior Choir and Gallery Choir, Boyz Noyz and Show Choir. Following national auditions, both were chosen from the Leeds Auditions, and will attend residential courses during the year. They will be involved in concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and the Sage, Gateshead.
Oscar, aged 9, is currently a member of Opera North Children’s Chorus and Emma, aged 10 has recently performed as Birgitta in the Sound of Music at Harrogate Theatre.
Head of Music at Highfield, Mrs Clare Gray commented:
I am delighted that the two were successful. To receive intensive choral training at such a high level will be wonderful and I am sure that they will benefit enormously.
