Residents of Harrogate are being called upon to put their skills and expertise to use by volunteering for new nationwide charity The Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA).
The bespoke Charity is looking for volunteers in the Harrogate area to support its work as it readies itself for the launch of its lifesaving service in early 2013.
TCAA will fly critically ill children and babies as well as their expert medical teams from local district hospitals to Paediatric Intensive Care Units across England and Wales so they can get the specialist care they urgently need. The service relies entirely on public donations, but it also needs help in other ways from members of the community to help get its helicopter flying.
Faye Wilson, TCAA Fundraising Manager, said:
We’re looking for a variety of different people across the area to help our worthwhile cause get off the ground. Whether you’re a student looking to enhance your CV and learn new skills, or a consultant looking to share your expertise with a good cause, we need your help.
Many people think of volunteering as something that is very time consuming but it doesn’t have to be, and what’s more, thanks to technology available these days – you might not need to leave your home in order to volunteer.
The charity has roles such as community speakers, events promoters, collection co-ordinators and volunteer fundraising assistants available.
Vicky Humphreys, a volunteer for TCAA, commented:
Volunteering for The Children’s Air Ambulance is a great educational and fun experience. It’s also extremely rewarding and exciting to be part of such a worthy, forward thinking charity.
