A resident at Crystal Court in Pannal, Harrogate has celebrated turning an amazing 102 this week.
Mr Ken Reid was treated to a homemade cake from staff at the home, as his 2 children and 2 grandchildren visited him to celebrate.
Originally from Heaton Mercy in Manchester, Ken moved to the Harrogate area in 1953. His wife Mary was at Crystal Court Care Home before she passed away in 2011 and he came to live in the residential and nursing home in 2010.
Well known in the textiles and fabric industry, Ken enjoyed an illustrious career in sales.
One of three brothers Ken has always had a passion for sport, including golf, cricket and football, all of which he still watches regularly. He also loved to play the piano in his younger years, and still has an eye for the ladies, making him very popular amongst the female residents in the home!
His daughter, Carolyn Maskin, who lives in Harrogate said:
It’s amazing that Dad has reached 102, we are very proud of him and would like to thank the home for the wonderful care they have given since he came here when he was 99. Mum enjoyed her last days here, so many of the staff have started to feel like family!
