A 49-year-old man was taken into custody this morning and has since been charged with assault by beating.
Stuart David Atkinson, aged 49, of Lower Dunsforth, was being sought in connection with an attempted robbery in Harrogate.
A 47-year-old local man sustained cuts and bruising to his face when he was attacked on St Andrew’s Avenue by a man demanding money on Sunday 2 December 2012.
Officers have been making extensive enquiries to trace Stuart Atkinson since the incident and had recently appealed to the public to help their search.
He is due to appear before Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on 5 February 2013.
