Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a burglary at a medieval house near Ripon.
A silver cross and a pair of silver candlesticks, which were on loan from Ripon Cathedral, were taken from Markenfield Hall sometime overnight between Sunday 6 January and Monday 7 January 2013.
Also taken during the burglary was a silver gondola-shaped toast rack and a small quantity of cash.
Officers are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the burglary or has any other information that can help the investigation to get in touch.
PC Chris Hind, of Harrogate CID, said:
This burglary occurred in a fairly remote location, so any sightings of suspicious people or vehicles could be vital to the investigation.
The items stolen are extremely difficult to replace and are hold great value to the owners of the hall and of course to Ripon Cathedral.
If you have any information that can help with our enquiries or have been offered the stolen items for sale, please contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.
Anyone who can help officers with the investigation is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Chris Hind or Harrogate CID.
If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
