In a pulsating game Rail came out on top after throwing a 2 goal lead away at half-time. Rail opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Liam Hardy latched on to a through ball from Nathan Cartman
to slot home from inside the area. Rail doubled their lead just before half-time when Jon Maloney looped a header over the keeper from a long range free-kick from Colin Hunter. Clitheroe came out all guns blazing in the second-half and pulled a goal back on the hour mark as Danny Mahoney finished with a good header.
Clitheroe threw all 3 substitutes on in a 15 minute spell and it paid off when Chris Mason equalised with another header on 77 minutes.
Just as though the game was heading for a draw Rob Youhill set up Liam Hardy for Rail to retake the lead. Clitheroe pushed forward yet again but Rail capitalised on some bad defending and Liam Hardy completed his hat-trick in injury-time.
