The office and hotels business, MWB Group Holdings was placed in administration by its directors on 16 November 2012.
The company owns Malmaison Hotels and Hotel du Vin as well as a large portfolio of serviced offices.
Administrators, Deloitte’s have said subsidiary businesses will continue to trade as normal although they will be exploring the options for realising value in the company’s assets.
It’s full steam ahead at Hotel du Vin in Harrogate though as they have reported a record breaking year.
The hotel has seen strong trading and recorded its best year since 2009.
Harrogate Hotel du Vin Manager Grant Lowe said:
We have enjoyed an extremely strong year to date with growth in nearly every revenue stream, including a very strong bar performance – it’s certainly all steam ahead in Harrogate.
Malmaison and Hotel Du Vin has also recently unveiled plans for a £7m investment programme in Manchester which will create 75 jobs.
Chief executive Gary Davis made the announcement following news that parent company MWB Group had fallen into administration.
He said the group’s 26 hotels, run by its subsidiary Malmaison Holdings, were not in administration and it was ‘business as usual’.
Nationally, Mr Davis said the group planned to launch 12 new hotels, investing around £100m.
In a recent trading update Malmaison and Hotel Du Vin said both businesses were performing strongly, with sales and profits ahead by 14 per cent over the last four months on a like-for-like basis.
