In an even game a goal from both sides meant a draw and a point a piece in the bottom of the table clash. The first-half saw very few chances as neither keeper was really tested. The nearest either side came to scoring was when Jon Maloney’s shot from the home side crashed against the foot of the post. It was much the same story in the second-half with Wakefield slightly edging the opening few minutes.
The opening goal came on 52 minutes when Rail’s defence was opened up down the left. The cross came in and Lee Turner finished off from close in. Despite both Rob Youhill and Danny Hull causing problems down the flanks Railway couldn’t find a way past a resolute Wakefield defence. Railway again hit the woodwork as Danny Hull’s effort from the edge of the area came off the crossbar.
Rail did manage to find a way through in the 86th minute as RobYouhill’s outswinging cross on the right evaded the keeper and Nathan Cartman prodded the ball home for a deserved equaliser.
