Police are urging farmers to check their barns and other outbuildings as efforts continue to trace missing Harrogate man Graham Roskell.
Mr Roskell, has not been seen for more than a week after leaving Harrogate District Hospital, where he was receiving treatment, at around 8am on Saturday 3 November 2012.
The public’s response to previous media appeals has been greatly appreciated and there have been over 40 sightings of Mr Roskell, all of which are being checked by police.
However, officers are still appealing for people, farmers in particular, to check their outbuildings in case Mr Roskell has set up camp somewhere warm.
Inspector Dave Hall, of North Yorkshire Police, said:
Although we have had a great response from people who have reported sightings and helped to search for Mr Roskell, there is still a real need for residents in and around Harrogate to search their outbuildings for him.
I would especially appeal to local farmers to have a good look in their barns and other outbuildings to see if Mr Roskell has found a little corner where he has managed to keep himself warm, dry and out of sight.
I would also urge people to report any sightings of anyone matching Mr Roskell’s description straight away.
- Earlier today (12 November 2012) specially trained officers searched Crimple Wood, near the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, after a sighting of Mr Roskell was reported in the area.
- Officers have also been conducting further house to house enquiries in the area surrounding Harrogate District Hospital and have also searched the railway line from Harrogate to Mr Roskell’s home village of Kirk Hammerton, with the assistance of officers from British Transport Police.
- Yesterday (Sunday November 11) a search of the River Nidd was completed by police officers from the Regional Underwater Search Unit.
- Posters have been put up in shops and local business in the Harrogate area and North Yorkshire Police’s partners are also supporting the search by displaying posters in libraries and other council buildings.

Mr Roskell is described as white, 65-years-old, 5ft 11in tall, with a medium build. He has greyish white straight hair, and although he was wearing glasses when he was last seen he doesn’t need them all the time.
When he was reported missing Mr Roskell was wearing black leather lace up shoes, olive green trousers and a cream and green horizontally striped rugby style top. He was also wearing a black wrist watch, and was carrying a navy blue fleece knee-length dressing gown that was rolled up.
