Images of York phone theft suspects released

York police have issued images of two men they would like to trace following the theft of a mobile phone in the city.

It was stolen at around 1pm on Thursday 30 August 2012, from the O2 store on Spurriergate. It is believed that the men entered the store before taking a Samsung Galaxy Note valued at around £400.

The first suspect is described as a white man with short hair. At the time he was wearing a grey hooded top, with a white tee-shirt, jeans and white trainers. The second man is Asian aged in his mid-20s, around 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall.

PC Steve Gillespie, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

If either of the man caught on CCTV recognise themselves and there has been some confusion and you are not responsible for this theft I urge you to get in touch so that you can be eliminated from our enquiries.

If you recognise either of the man I am also asking you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.
