Ripon Amateur Operatic Society will shortly begin rehearsing for classic Sondheim musical, “Follies” and need a variety of ages and personalities to join the cast.
The show, which will be performed from 17th – 20th April 2012 at Harrogate Theatre is a stunning production set in “modern day”. It follows a group of veteran show boys and girls as they reunite one last time in the crumbling theatre they once performed in which is about to be knocked down to make way for a car park. At the final hurrah, a trip down memory lane makes way for their younger selves to lead a re-exploration into their lives when the theatre, and its inhabitants were in their prime!
A beautiful and gently humorous story is illustrated with Sondheim’s score, including songs such as “Beautiful Girls”, “Broadway Baby” and “Losing my Mind”.
The first rehearsal will take place on Friday 19th October at the Society’s rehearsal hall on Waterskellgate, Ripon.
The age limit for younger members for this particular show is 14. For more information on becoming involved in Follies either onstage or off, please visit www.riponoperatics.org or email riponoperatics@yahoo.co.uk
