This week Harrogate Ladies’ College embraced ‘Go Green Week’ beginning with a fashion show. The pupils modelled their own creations using recycled white shirts, handbags made out of crisp packets along with tie-dye t-shirts by Highfield Prep Eco Club.
The week continued with a very challenging sponsored ‘No-internet Day’ and culminated in an inspiring talk by Roger Parkinson from the Woodland Trust. He discussed the work of the Trust in planting millions of trees in order to provide natural habitat for many different species. He actively spent time with pupils helping them to plant their own trees using milk bottles and these seeds are now being housed in the Woodland Trust nursery.
Pupils hope to visit the nursery in the future and see how their saplings are developing.
The School continues to fundraise for the Woodland Trust selling recycled old and broken jewellery.
