Investigation continues into 13-vehicle collision on A1 near Bedale: Did anyone see a tipper truck with a shredded rear tyre?
Traffic Constable Tony Leonard has issued a fresh witness appeal about the 13-vehicle damage-only collision on the northbound A1 at Londonderry, near Bedale, which happened at around 7pm on Tuesday 9 October 2012.
He is asking motorist who were travelling along that stretch of the A1 at the time of the collision if they recall seeing a tipper truck or a bulk tipper lorry that was parked on the off slip at Leeming Bar with a shredded offside rear tyre.
TC Leonard said:
This tipper truck or bulk tipper lorry is an important line of enquiry in the investigation to understand how the multiple collision occurred.
If anyone remembers seeing this vehicle parked on the off slip at Leeming Bar or witnessed the tyre damage it sustained while on the northbound carriageway of the A1 in the Bedale area, please contact me as soon as possible.
