The organisers of the Weeton show have made the decision to cancel this year’s show which was due to be held on 2 September 2012.
The show field and car parks have been inspected and are unusable.
A spokesperson for the show said:
It is with deep regret that despite a huge effort by the Committee and supporters of the Weeton Show to reschedule to this weekend – the Committee have been forced to cancel the Show & Hog Roast for 2012.
After discussions with landowners and key stake holders & following site inspections and problems already encountered getting vehicles on&off site.
The field is in a horrendous state already with significant water logging at all traffic entrances and the main ring.
The car-park is non-viable and the risk to person and property too great.
With the weather currently and predicted this makes continuing with the Show irresponsible and impossible. Please spread the word & thank you for supporting the show for what has turned out to be the worst Yorkshire Summer for a generation.
