Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is asking members of the public in North Yorkshire to help it donate thousands of pounds to local charities by nominating a good cause in its annual ‘Make A Difference Week’ giveaway.
Yorkshire Building Society’s 10 branches in Northallerton, Pickering, Richmond, Scarborough, Whitby, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Selby or York each have the opportunity to support up to five local charities and good causes. To help them decide where the donations should go they are looking for nominations from members of the public in the local area.
‘Make A Difference Week’, which runs from August 17th to 25th, has now been held for five consecutive years and to celebrate the anniversary the branches want to give a financial boost to some of the smaller charities within their local communities.
Yorkshire staff get ready to give away up to £500 to local charities
Jon Vening the Society’s North Yorkshire Area Manager said:
Make A Difference week has always been a brilliant success that gives some of our smaller charities the chance to get a helping hand.
Yorkshire is committed to supporting local communities, where our members and staff live and work and we are hoping that by having members of the public call in and nominate their favourite charity we are hoping we can help support some of the smaller good causes that can often be overlooked for a donation.
I hope anybody passing one our branches in North Yorkshire between 17th and 25th August will pop in, pick up a nomination form and tell us who they want to see receive £100.
The money donated to the nominated charities through ‘Make A Difference Week’ is largely funded by the Society’s innovative ‘Small Change Big Difference’ scheme. Members of the Society can choose to donate pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts to the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
To nominate your favourite charity of good cause pop into your local branch in either Northallerton, Pickering, Richmond, Scarborough, Whitby, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Selby or York and pick up a nomination form.
My reccommendation would be the Samaritains. There are branches all around the region who have to raise funds to keep their branch going. I’m aware of branches in York, Harrogate, Scarborough and Northallerton that would greatly appreciate funding to help them continue providing an excelent service.
