Police investigating an indecent assault in Thirsk have released an E-fit image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
At around 9.30pm on Sunday 15 July 2012 a 37-year-old local woman was walking along Finkle Street, when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her bottom before apologising and walking off.
The victim reported the matter to the police immediately but despite extensive enquiries officers have been unable to trace the suspect.
He is described as white, aged in his mid 30s, around 5ft 6in tall with a thick set build and a very pale complexion. He had dark brown hair, beard and moustache and thick, dark-rimmed glasses.
At the time of the offence he was wearing a white top and dark blue jeans.
Police are appealing to anyone who can help identify the man to get in touch.
Sergeant Frances Hannan, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
Clearly this was a rather upsetting experience for the victim and we need the public’s help to locate the suspect.
I urge people to take a look at the E-fit and contact the police or Crimestoppers if you think you can help identify the man in question.
I also ask anyone who has been approached in similar circumstances to get in touch without delay.
Anyone who can help officers with the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Thirsk police.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
