The MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough opened the Killinghall village Olympics on the Glebe land behind St Thomas’ Church on Sunday with all money raised going to projects suggested by the Parish council.
Andrew Jones MP opened the event by wishing all the children and parents good luck in the races and said how events like these are great for community spirit especially leading up to the 2012 games.
Andrew, who presented the winners with their medals said:
The ‘over under ball’ looked like great fun and the adults did a brilliant job organising the kids.
Everyone really got stuck in and it was good to see the parents join in the events too.
The day was very well organised and the weather stayed mercifully fine.
Thanks are owed to the parish council and Kerry Hall for setting up a great day, it really showed the close community spirit in Killinghall,” he said.
